COINS AND CARDS USING A SPREADSHEET (30 points)
Objective: To perform some experimental probability experiments using random numbers and
compare those results to theoretical probabilities.
Step 1: Start MS Excel
Step 2: Make three worksheets (excel defaults to 3 worksheets)
Label these worksheets: SHUFFLE, COINS, FACTORIAL
Step 3: SHUFFLE worksheet
Copy the names of the cards in column b (look below to find the names of the cards)
Then copy this formula in a1 "=RAND()". Don't use the quotes"
Fill this function down to match the 52 card name.
Step 4: COINS worksheet
Type in this text starting at A1.
4 COINS 5 COINS 6 COINS

control + "=" calculates a new random number
Every place you see a "0" or a "1" type in this function "=TRUNC(RAND()+0.5)"
Step 5: FACTORIAL worksheet
